Renault Kadjar to be replaced by new electric SUV
Renault plans to unveil an allnew completely electric family SUV that will sit above the newly unveiled Megane ETech Electric at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, according to the company’s executives.
Gilles Le Borgne, Renault’s vice president of engineering, told Auto Express that the company is \”already working on a new car for the year ahead in between the Megane [ETech Electric] and the Nissan Ariya [with which the Renault will share its platform].\”
The CMFEV platform will be used for the company’s second electric crossover, which can be enlarged to 4.7 meters in length with a 2,780mm wheelbase, according to Le Borgne.
The present Renault Kadjar midsize combustionengined SUV is 4,489mm long and has a 2,646mm wheelbase, thus even if the allelectric Kadjar replacement is a comparable overall length, the wheels will be pushed to the car’s extremes to enhance packaging and maximize space.
The battery, which will be installed in the car’s floor, will be included in this. “The lineup could easily contain our 60 [kWh battery],” Le Borgne said, adding that “the maximum energy on board will be 87kWh.”
